Nicholas Strickland, better know as Benzo Da Code, created the playlist for the life he wanted to manifest. Centered around self-growth, ascension, and improvement, the Colorado Springs, CO native makes records that prove rap has a promising future. From soulful melodies to heavy, in-your-face bars, it seems there's nothing the 29-year-old emcee can't do on wax.
With influences from Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Sade, & Nas to J Cole, Ace Hood, Drake, & Wiz Khalifa, you'll hear Benzo on a wide range of mostly-self-produced instrumentals from trap-inspired bangers to smooth, R&B-esque vibrations.
"I love raw hip-hop. Bars. Punchlines. Imagery," said the emcee, who now resides in Atlanta, GA - a move which has allowed him to expand his career not only as an artist but videographer, audio engineer, and producer as well. "I also really love trap music, though The production and vibe is undeniable. I just don't like hearing about violence and materialistic things and other negativity all day - so I make the music that I want- shit need to listen to. Music about self-improvement, meditation... being a better me. I'm a thoughtful intelligent black man, and I want that to come across in every record."
Within a large collection of records - most accompanied by intense, striking visuals that the artist edits himself - you'll hear Benzo touch on everything from the grind of daily life & current events to manifestation, psychedelics, & secrets of the Universe. Benzo is available for bookings/appearances, forum talks, features, & production/editing services. For inquiries, email codelifebenzo@gmail.com. Namaste.
