Why Benzo?

I used to go by Mxlcxlm Z. Not only was it difficult to spell (I thought that it would stand out...), but - although I still planned to make music about this topic - I realized I have a lot more to say in my music than just speaking on the struggles of the Black Man in America. So I set my intention on finding a different name.

So why Benzo Da Code?

The inspiration was taken from a book I was reading at the time, "Becoming Supernatural" by Dr. Joe Dispenza.

Benzo is short for benzodiazepine, which is a class of drugs more commonly known as Xanax, Valium, etc. that we often use to calm our minds. I find out from Dr. Joe that our brains can actually create benzodiazepines naturally through deep meditation and transmuting our brain waves. I thought this was dope as hell, and decided I wanted my music, aura, and overall vibe to be like a natural transmutation of frequencies/waves...a natural calming agent...an audio drug.

Da Code is a reference to my being (I am a "coded" manifestation of the Source/Universe/God), as well as a different way to write "decode," which means to solve, figure out, or break down. I am on a mission to break down my own personal "code," the inner workings of myself and how I can best contribute to this world - to "know thyself." I hope that my music and presence will inspire others to break down their own Code, and ascend to their highest Selves. This is CodeLife. All glory to the Most High. Namaste. Peace, Love, & Light.
